The Modern Scagliola Workshop — Lily in Motion, with the guidance of Francesca Gulizia and the assistance of Paolo Pratesi, is a unique experience to learn about and experiment with scagliola, an ancient decorative technique that mimics the effect of marble.
Each participant will receive a paperweight in white Carrara marble engraved with the lily of Florence and all the necessary material to “throw away” the scagliola, that is, fill the engraving with a special mixture. After the practical phase, we will continue with a Visit to the laboratory, with explanations on traditional techniques and their evolution to date.
At the end, the artifacts will be polished directly by the participants: if for technical reasons they are not ready immediately, it will be possible to arrange for their collection or delivery.
