The Artistic Bookbinding Workshop, led by Beatrice Cuniberti At theAtelier degli Artigianelli, is a practical and historical introduction to the art of book binding.
The route begins with a brief overview of the History of bookbinding, showing ancient walnut frames from the 20th century and samples of bindings from the 19th and 20th centuries. We will also analyze the tools of the trade, the materials and techniques used by master bookbinders, from the period of wooden boards and scrolls to the printing era that began in 1455.
During the workshop, participants will learn:
- The basic binding techniques on three points for a file.
- The correct use of traditional bookbinding tools.
- How to make a personal book, ready to take home.
